Ein gemeinsames ästhetisches Fühlen innerhalb undurchsichtiger und fluider rhythmischer Strukturen ist der Kern von PERCUSSION. Die Band präsentiert ihr aktuelles Album “PERCUSSION II” (boomslang records, März 2023).
Felix Hauptmann (Piano, Komposition), Roger Kintopf (Bass) und Leif Berger (Drums) arbeiten seit mehreren Jahren zusammen in diesem Ensemble, geprägt durch intensive Probenarbeit und Arbeitsprozesse. Die Band arbeitet seit Beginn mit dem einzigartigen Label “Boomslang Records” von Alfred Vogel zusammen und ist unter anderem auch auf dem renommierten “Bezau Beatz” Festival zu hören gewesen.

„I started writing this music with the gentle urge to find a more honest way to express myself. That includes many layers of feelings and thoughts that I felt I couldn’t release until I would start to work constantly with a band that consists of the wonderful musicians and my longtime friends Roger and Leif. Both are insanely committed and willing to put a lot of time in rehearsing, talking and playing. After some months of intense work with the ensemble, a general trust began to grow between us – exactly what I was looking for the whole time. The compositions themselves are very complex, leaving a lot of questions unanswered for the three of us, which made us learn to be comfortable with being uncomfortable.
I want the music to be an invitation to try not to expect anything from anyone: for you, the listener as well as for us, the musicians. Through this absence of expectations I hope we can get closer together by accepting more diversity in art and human relationships.“
